$475,000,000 Well Spent
(Jay Pritzker Pavillion, Millennium Park, between the Loop and Lake Michigan)
I took this Friday afternoon, just before heading to the nearby Art Institute and then returning for a free concert. It’s a beautiful, open space that’s constantly filled with tourists and picnicers. That giant, exploded beer can is actually a stage, designed by the infamous “blobitect” Frank Gehry, who is also responsible for the iconic Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. The curved, steel beams overhead act as a sound blanket, keeping the music inside the pavillion during concerts, many of which are free in the summer.
