Ben

The best show in the history of television has already started shooting for Season Five, which premieres in February 2009.  A long time to wait, yes, but here’s what we know:

1) According to the showrunners, there will no longer be flashbacks or flashforwards on the show. The format of Season Five is one of the mysteries they want us to ponder during the break.

2) When Ben turned the Wheel in the Season Four finale, the Island moved through both space and time.

3) Daniel Faraday survived the finale, and his journal will feature prominently in the upcoming season.

4) One of my favorite characters, Richard Alpert, will get considerably more screen time this season.

5) We will finally get Rousseau’s story this season.  It’s about time.  And I’m still upset over her unceremonious wacking.

6) The four-toed statue will finally be addressed.

7) The premiere is called Because You Left, which leaves me unsettled, simply because it sounds like a Kate-centric episode.

8) Matthew Fox (Jack) successfully negotiated a 50% raise in his salary with ABC, bringing his paycheck to $225,000 per episode. That’s pushing $4 million for Season Five alone.

9) Finally, check out this video, released during this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con.  The implications are far-reaching and exciting.  I love Marvin Candle and can’t wait to see how his character plays into Lost’s greater story.  And that is definitely Daniel Faraday’s voice behind the camera, which is mind-boggling.

On a personal note, I bought my books today for the first term of grad school, and altogether, they were only $60.  I was thrilled.  As an undergrad, I spent an average of $250 on books per term!
