No, I didn’t take this picture inside an alien spacecraft, but it kind of looks like I did.
This is actually the cieling of the James R. Thompson Center, a giant postmodern building right behind City Hall that houses state offices and retail.  It was pretty controversial when first erected, as are many of Helmut Jahn’s designs.  Most people took issue with the color scheme: the base of the building is the precise hue of tomato soup. That and probably the fact that it looks like a flying saucer:
