And I’m not talking about Louisville Sluggers.

Just in time for Halloween, an Illinois middle school was closed indefinitely today after three to five hundred colonial bats were found nesting in the ceilings of the building. The school administrators are spending the rest of the week trying to decide “if the bats pose any health threats” to the students.

Hmm. Bats are natural carriers of rabies, SARS, and ebola. Most species’ teeth are so small, you can’t even feel their bite. Not to mention their disease-ridden guano. Might be a health threat, Principal Belding.

I expect to see a massive influx of dark-spirited vigilantes in a decade or so when these kids come of age.

Trivia: Did you know that the largest urban bat colony in the world (over 1.5 million) is under an overpass near downtown Austin, Texas?

Meanwhile…
Our Indian Summer in Chicago is over. It’s cold now. For good. Should have some more pictures up after the weekend, unless the rain keeps me inside. Oh and Da Bears are 4-3, which means they’re currently winning the NFC North playoff race.
