Obviously this is a bit of a stretch, but the Indian Space Research Organization landed its first probe on the surface of the moon today, which is eerily reminiscent of events in novel I started working on over four years ago.

India’s lunar probe, Chandrayaan-1, was sent to the moon partially to look for Helium-3, a rare isotope that would make nuclear fusion safer and easier. India is the latest country to join the ‘Asian Space Race’ along with China and Japan, all of whom are now planning missions to the moon and Mars.

In my novel, Paradigm Found (set in the latter part of the century), NASA has been made obsolete by the Kubera Corporation, an Eastern multinational conglomerate with branches in India, China, and Japan. Kubera’s lunar outpost, the Chandra Facility, exists mainly as a Helium-3 farm to fuel the developed world’s energy needs after we run out of oil.

Okay, so I didn’t explicitly predict the future. But still, reading the story about Chandrayaan-1 today gave me goosebumps. Watch out, NASA.
